Genealogy Gems Free Podcasts

Lisa Louise Cooke is an amazing educator of all things genealogy. She has a calm, soothing voice so I can listen to her genealogy podcasts for hours while I am on one of my infamous road trips. **I learned a LOT about using Google for my online genealogy research from her book ‘Genealogists Google Toolbox’. Be sure to catch her podcast, you will not be disappointed.

‘Research Like A Pro’ is the podcast that got me hooked on using DNA results in my research. This is a mother daughter team actively doing their own family research aside from their business and they share their discoveries and challenges on the show. They bring education, tools, processes and a lot about writing research reports to every one of their genealogy podcasts. Their 2 books, ‘Research Like A Pro’ and ‘Research Like A Pro with DNA’ are must haves!

glass of wine and pile of books

‘Genealogy Happy Hour’ is one of those genealogy podcasts that are entertaining and informative. They always begin the podcast by describing a bottle of wine they enjoy. Then they dive into what they are working on, research trip and records, land, DNA, etc… It’s easy to follow, these 2 ladies are down to earth and totally relatable.

Extreme Genes podcasts

Extreme Genes is a regular for me. These guys cover a lot of ground in every podcasts. They keep me updated on new records coming on the scene, projects in the genealogy community. I met his co-host at the FamilySearch library in Salt Lake City and I was hooked. My favorite part of the show is when they answer listeners questions.
